Esports Psychology · Mental Performance · Teams
Psychology-based mental performance support for esports players, teams and staff who want to compete with more clarity, emotional regulation and consistency under pressure.
What an esports mental coach does
An esports mental coach helps players and teams develop practical mental skills for competition. In esports, performance is not only about mechanics, strategy or game knowledge. It is also affected by pressure, emotional regulation, attention, communication, routines and the ability to reset quickly after mistakes.
My work combines sport psychology, esports performance psychology and psychology-based mental coaching. The goal is not to motivate players with generic advice, but to help them understand what happens under pressure and build tools they can actually use during practice, ranked games, scrims, tournaments, bootcamps and LAN events.
This work is informed by sport psychology and performance psychology principles developed across both traditional sport and esports. The competitive context changes, but many core performance demands remain similar: pressure, focus, emotional regulation, confidence, routines, communication and recovery after mistakes.
Who this is for
For esports players who struggle with tilt, pressure, inconsistency, confidence or recovery after mistakes.
For teams that want better communication, emotional control, role clarity and repeatable routines under pressure.
For coaches, managers and organisations looking to integrate mental performance work into their competitive structure.
Mental skills for esports performance
Recognising early signs of tilt, understanding triggers and building reset routines before emotions take over decision-making.
Preparing players for high-stakes moments, decisive rounds, clutch situations, stage pressure and expectations.
Building routines to stay present during matches, reduce distraction and recover attention after errors or chaotic moments.
Helping players manage frustration, anxiety, activation level and emotional swings during practice and competition.
Improving communication under stress, reducing blame cycles and helping players stay clear, useful and role-focused.
Creating pre-match, between-round, post-error and post-match routines that players can repeat consistently.
Supporting players and teams before live events, travel, media pressure, long days and competitive routines away from home.
Working on behaviours that can be repeated over time, instead of relying only on motivation, confidence or momentum.
Psychology-based mental coaching
Many players and teams look for an esports mental coach when performance drops under pressure, communication breaks down or tilt becomes difficult to manage.
My approach is based on psychology, not generic motivation. This means the work starts from the real competitive context: the game, the player, the team culture, the schedule, the role, the pressure points and the specific moments where performance changes.
The goal is not to promise perfect performance. The goal is to build awareness, regulation, clarity and consistency.
How I work
Understanding the player or team context, current challenges, goals and competitive demands.
Identifying the main performance targets: pressure, tilt, focus, communication, routines, confidence or consistency.
Working through concrete tools, scenarios and routines connected to the player’s game and competitive environment.
Connecting mental skills to scrims, ranked games, VOD review, tournament preparation and staff feedback.
Monitoring what works, what does not transfer and what needs to be adapted over time.
Online and on-site
Support can be delivered online or on-site, depending on the needs of the player, team or organisation.
Online work can be useful for individual players, international teams, regular check-ins and preparation between competitions.
On-site work can be useful during bootcamps, LAN events, tournament preparation, staff integration and high-pressure competitive phases.
